Now Hiring: Volunteer Coordinator

• Develop and execute outreach strategies to recruit volunteers from local universities, high schools, civic groups, interfaith organizations, and the local Muslim community.
• Manage online volunteer listings (e.g., VolunteerMatch, local community boards, DDIC website) and social media calls-for-volunteers.
• Proactively connect with local companies and corporate CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) teams to build strategic partnerships and secure corporate staff volunteer engagements.

• Design, schedule, and lead dedicated corporate volunteer workdays and group team-building shifts at both the Downing Street facility and the Warren Avenue site.
• Serve as the primary host and point of contact for corporate teams, ensuring a high-impact, professional, and well-structured volunteer experience.
• Tailor group shift workflows to effectively absorb small-to-large corporate groups for sorting, packing, stock transfer, and distribution operations.

• Conduct volunteer orientation sessions covering DDIC policies, client dignity, food safety guidelines, and emergency protocols.
• Ensure all individual and corporate group volunteers complete necessary waivers, background checks (where applicable), and role-specific safety briefings prior to their shifts.
• Maintain clear documentation of volunteer hours, group participation numbers, attendance records, and compliance requirements.

• Build and maintain the master volunteer schedule across both pantry sites to ensure seamless coverage for sorting, stock transfer, and distribution days.
• Serve as the primary on-site lead (or coordinate shift leads) during distribution days and corporate group workdays to assign tasks, answer questions, and keep operations running smoothly.
• Manage last-minute call-outs and schedule adjustments with a reliable backup pool.

• Establish volunteer appreciation initiatives, recognition awards, and community-building events to maintain high retention rates among both individual and corporate group partners.
• Gather feedback from individual volunteers and corporate group leaders to continuously improve shift workflows and the overall volunteer experience.
• Foster an inclusive, respectful, and energetic atmosphere that reflects the core values of The DDIC.

• Outreach & Corporate Mobilization Experience: Proven ability to engage, network with, and recruit individuals, community groups, and corporate CSR/HR teams for corporate staff volunteer days.
• Event & Group Facilitation: Experience planning, managing, and hosting structured group workdays, corporate team shifts, orientations, and community events.
• On-Site Leadership & Coordination: Demonstrated hands-on leadership skills to supervise shifts, assign operational tasks to diverse volunteer groups, manage last-minute coverage, and keep food distribution operations running smoothly.
• Organizational & Administrative Skills: Strong capability in roster management, scheduling across multiple sites, tracking group and individual volunteer hours, and managing compliance documentation (waivers, background checks, training logs).
• Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to deliver engaging presentations to corporate sponsors, liaise with partner organizations, and foster an inclusive, energetic team culture.
• Training & Compliance: Familiarity with or ability to quickly master and train others on food safety guidelines, client dignity principles, and emergency protocols.
• Mobility & Site Presence: Reliable transportation and the flexibility to be on-site at both Denver locations (Downing Street and Warren Avenue) during stock transfers, distribution days, and scheduled corporate group shifts.

This position is being offered as an Independent Contract Position. The selected candidate will operate as a contractor and will not be considered a direct employee of The Downtown Denver Islamic Center (The DDIC).
